Established in 1997 out of Island Breeze International, South Roots International has a mandate of Cultural Redemption (restoring a culture to God’s original design) and Reconciliation, using performing arts as a tool.
South Roots uses musical theatre and cultural expression to tell the story and redemptive purpose of the ‘Foundation Nation’ of Southern Africa. ‘Broken Shackles’ was the longest running production – launched in 2001 and ran until 2013 and reprised in 2017. Besides musical theatre, South Roots runs various training programmes for social transformation, including Career Readiness, Social Cohesion, Early Childhood Development, Indigenous Knowledge Systems and much more.
South Roots has impacted audiences around the world from Europe to Asia, America to Africa, displaying God’s character through the beauty and diversity of our South African Expressions.
